Amazing food and great atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Food was gone so fast I didn't even get a chance to take a photo. Would strongly recommend. We ordered a great spread of share food, the beef, the milkbun chicken and the carrots were my highlight.
This place has a nice lighting set up and background music, however the menu was quite limited especially for vegan and gluten free options. The vegan options offered after asking were vegetarian options „without the cheese“, one was a starter and the other one used with the same pan. When I asked if the cheese could be replaced with something to make the dish more interesting (carrot, parsnip and ricotta) I was told it can only be left out, but they will ask what the chef can do. When it arrived popcorn was added (?) and the white sauce was so sour that I had to pick out the vegetables and ask for bread to balance out the strong taste. The pork shoulder came without any side dishes (see photo). The potato dumplings were good. The service was okay and we felt well looked after, however the menu selections definitely needs adjustment in todays world of vegans, GF etc.
The flavors and combinations of food were all on point. We ordered just the right amount for 4 people. The only criticism I have is an about portion sizes. Some were fine but some were lacking. In particular the beef brisket with marinated mushrooms and Diane sauce was minuscule for the $44 dollars. Especially as the plates had been described as share plates. We did note this to the staff member as leaving.
I recently had the pleasure of attending a Montague wine party in their downstairs cellar in August 2023 and I must say it was an absolutely fabulous experience! From the very beginning, the team at Young George proved to be professional, attentive, and a joy to work with during the planning process. Their food and drinks selection was outstanding, making it incredibly easy to put together an amazing night for all our guests.
Although the milk bun ramen fried chicken and zucchini were not personal favorites, the overall meal was still fantastic. The variety of food offered was both delicious and creatively presented, with the chef's inventive layer of flavors impressing us all. The wood-fired meats were tender and melted in our mouths, and the carefully curated wine selection added the perfect touch to our dining experience.
I must also mention the warm and welcoming decor, which created a pleasant atmosphere that further enhanced the evening. The vibe at Young George is truly enjoyable, and the excellent service we received from the friendly staff capped off the night, making it an all-around great experience.
I can't express enough gratitude to Young George for hosting such a brilliant party. The team's professionalism, attention to detail, and delicious food made our wedding cocktail montague party an unforgettable night. Thank you, Young George, for exceeding our expectations!
Went to the Young George on a rainy sunday evening and it was the perfect place to be nestled in the sleepy suburbs of East Fremantle. We arrived and were quickly seated, with the special explained to us and drinks orders taken.
Cocktails in hand (which were delicious) it was now time for the starters, we had the scallops which were beautify fresh easy to eat, followed by the prawn toast only complaint was there wasn't enough, lastly we had the milk bun fried chicken ramen sliders and OMG were these delicious. Seriously I'd be going back again just for these, if only they served a full sized burger of this.
For mains we shared between the Oyster mushroom risotto, chicken gnocchi, lamb belly and the roast pork special (with a side of the fries potatoes W/ creamy truffle aioli...of course). All these dishes were nice and fresh and cooked to perfection.
In summary, the food was fantastic, the drinks were flowing and the company was second to none. Young George chefs should be commended for their passion for food and the servers for their willingness to help and actually give good advice. I had high expectations for the Young George and I am pleased to say they were far surpassed in all avenues.
Service: 10/10
Food: 9/10
Value: 7/10
Thanks to the team for having us, will be returning again shortly 😊
I have been to Young George almost 10 times now. Every time the food never disappoints and the cocktails never disappoint.
This time the hit for me were the milk bun and fried ramen chicken and the ricotta rice and duck.
The beef tartare has been on the menu for a while. And it’s always amazing.
Even though the wagyu was tender I’d prefer it without being sous vide. It’s a preference thing.
Love the staff who recommended us all the foods. They’re all attentive and really care about their work.
Nice job Young George. I’ll be back soon.
If you love small portions, long wait times and leaving still feeling hungry then this is the place for you.
They explained the menu and stressed the fact that the food will “trickle out”, and that it did. Waiting nearly 45 minutes before any food hit the table. When it did come, nobody exclaimed how good thes, because it was simply average. $20 for chicken wings….you get 2 of them.
The wait staff were nice enough, but they seemed to “trickle out” also.
Over priced and underwhelming. Small portions and long wait times. Maccas on the way home. Thank god for the fried potatoes that made up 75% of the meal.
Another wonderful meal at YG. The highlights were the beef chop chop tartare, the bone marrow beef and the carrots.Always enjoy the selections at YG and great service and atmosphere too.
The milk bun ramen fried chicken was not a favourite and the zucchini was too vinegary, but overall a great meal.
